Climate of Utopia

چکیده

Abstract. Climate is usually considered to depend on a large number of parameters, this being essentially a functional in multi-dimensional parameter space. We propose a low-dimensional model of a climate where the temperature field on a thermally conducting planet depends on the external energy input and very limited number of internal parameters, like thermal conductivity and reflectivity. Equilibrium temperature and quasistatic variations of climate following slow variations of the 5 energy input are studied. The single phase model exhibits adiabatic behavior and stability with respect to small axisymmetric perturbation. The two phase model shows a non-trivial response to the variations of the external parameter. History dependence, global instabilities and hysteresis behavior characterize the surface temperature evolution.

Comparative study of Thomas More’s utopia and Farabi’s utopia by emphasis on architectural and urban Design spaces

Utopian thoughts have precedence as old as human history. Islamic civilization utopian thought owes its progress to the Farabi&rsquos utopian concept and expansion and academic study of utopian term in west owes to the Thomas More Utopia book. Theoretically, Farabi&rsquos utopian thoughts influenced development of utopian system in both Islam and Western civilizations. By emphasis on Farabi&rsq...

The Influence of Socio-Political Transformations on the Formation of the Image of “Utopia” in Mystical Poems

Since human soul seeks excellence, he continuously hunts for answers to his questions. Therefore, he works towards tools to help him achieve a better life, create a dream world (Armanshahr) or utopia; a nowhere; his desired world. The Sufis has been more attentive to the local realities of their society, and they saw the society full of shortcomings and sought to lead their people into a desira...

Excess ejecta craters record episodic ice-rich layers at middle latitudes on Mars

[1] We infer Amazonian climate change events from the presence of fresh craters with excess volumes of ejecta. Using the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter data, the geometrical properties of 572 fresh impact craters with rim diameters between 2.5 and 102 km were compiled in lowland and highland plains. The data reveal a class of fresh craters with anomalously high ejecta volumes preferentially locat...

Martian pedestal craters: Marginal sublimation pits implicate a climate-related formation mechanism

[1] Pedestal craters on Mars are defined by an outwardfacing scarp forming a plateau perched tens of meters above the surrounding terrain. Their origin has been attributed to impact armoring of the surface and subsequent removal of inter-crater terrain by either eolian deflation or sublimation of an ice-rich substrate. We identified 2696 pedestal craters between 60 N and 60 S latitude; 98% are ...

Pedestal crater heights on Mars: A proxy for the thicknesses of past, ice-rich, Amazonian deposits

Mid-latitude pedestal craters on Mars offer crucial insights into the timing and extent of widespread icerich deposits during the Amazonian period. Our previous comprehensive analysis of pedestal craters strongly supports a climate-related formation mechanism, whereby pedestals result from impacts into ice-rich material at mid latitudes during periods of higher obliquity. The ice from this targ...
